hi has any one got one of these are they any good, are they also silent thats oen of the reasons i am replacing my juwel one because of the noise lol.Thanks

I have used one for the past year. I love it. A couple of observations however.
1. Disconnect the venturi pipe, with it, it sounds like a gargling granny. Without it, its near silent.
2. Make sure you mount it tight against the glass. Got a bit sloppy once, didn't push the unit up close n personal and ended up with a few tetras getting wedged. Soon learnt where to look for missing fish.
Bang for bucks/pounds I think that this is a fantastic unit. Just make sure you keep a spare heater available if it ever breaks.. Obviously if the filter breaks you are going to have to buy another one or separate units again...

ok great.Does it come with mounting clips or suction pads?DO you have to change the filters or can i just wash them.Does it keep the water crystal clear and what is the venturi pipe for.

It comes with Suction Cups as it is an internal
The filters delivered with it are simple sponge filters, Simply rinse in old tank water when clogged.
Theres a gap in the middle of the filter box in which you could put a small bag of media i.e carbon for super clear water. Even without I feel it does a splendid job.
The venturi pipe simply plugs into the top of the pump and sucks air down a pipe which sits above the water line to create a stream of bubbles in the outflow (like an airpump, but without the pump). If you pull the pipe off (Its a friction fit) the bubbles cease.. NB There is actually a valve on the pipe which you can wind down to reduce the number of bubbles (and noise) or wind wide open for ultimate in air bubbles.

Re being in the UK - So am I, but bang for pounds doesnt sound as good as bang for bucks.. Also am quite sad and was reading the article in Lofi version on my crackberry on the way home from work so couldnt see your profile.. Am addicted to this forum.
