Howdy from central Texas. I'm new to fish aquariums. I Bought a 1 gallon tank for my kids (9 and 3yr olds) with two fish. 2 months later the 1 gal sites idle now we have a 20gal with 7 fish. and a 40 gal just iching to be set up and cycled. Wife say's I have to wait alittle while before I can start playing with it tho .

I can't even tell you how the progression you are upon is normal.

This Nov 7. Will be my 28th year in this addicting hobby!

I started with a 29g, a redtail shark, cherry barbs and tiger barbs.

I killed all of them within a week because I was clueless but I'm a cichlidmaniac now and have been since that day but those 3 community fish I know because I hated the fact that I hurt them and studied them like you wouldn't believe!

4 passions in my life... Florida Gator football..animals, fish and fishing. (not in that order)

I'm 37 now and have had cichlids for 27 years and was up to 344 tanks with 2 other friends of mine (that only I took care of I might add...those lazy you know what's!) but it all started out so innocently before I was consumed with this bug you have.

Welcome Ditchwitch. It's a great hobby, limited only by the amount of time and money you have to spend on it.

Your wife's suggestion that you wait a bit before setting up your newest tank is probably a good one. It will give you a bit of time to study up on the subject and save you problems in the long run.

There are a lot of good sites on the internet and you will make friends here who will want to see you do well.
