Hi

can anyone tell me how to go about planting my own bog wood?
is there any plants that i should or shouldnt use and is there any way thats best to get the plants to "root" onto the wood

The best plants to use are java fern, java moss and anubias which will grow roots to cling onto the bogwood, to attach the plants use some fine fishing line, one of around 3lbs breaking strain will be fine.

Thanks im looking forward to trying it, i did have some plants in my 10 gall tank, ive just thrown the last of them away as they had a very distinct earthy musty smell which i dont know if was normal or not but it was quite strong a bit like river water not very nice anyway, could it have been because my tank hadnt cycled?

Most healthy tanks have a particular smell, earthy, yes, that describes it, moist earth.
