How To Make A Tetra Happy?

ok can ou make a tetra feel safe and happy by being of a school of a different type of tetra, such as only having 2 neon tetra in a school of silver tipped. i no that combination would look weird. but can they stay happy in schools of other other fish in there same family?

they do better with there own kind so neons with neons although my neons shoaled with my cardinals but they are very similar
