Hi, i have about 35 real plants in my tank and don't want to spend loads of a co2 diffuser so can someone tell me how to make one D.I.Y style? thanks chris.
If you mean a passive diffuser, some people use the "bell" method, but it's not very efficient. Many people report good success with the "ladder"-style diffuser, such as the one that comes in the Hagen (Nutrafin) system. By the way, you can buy just that diffuser (not the entire system) for $10 US at Drs. Foster and Smith, but I'm not sure if they ship overseas.
For a "semi-powered" approach, many people will just run the CO2 tube into the intake tube of their filter, and let the impeller break up the bubbles. I've read that this can be tricky with some canister filters, as placement of the CO2 tube can be critical.
If you're looking at a powered reactor, then it's usually something like this, or this one, by G. Ghori.
