Hi, i have a problem, and that is feeding fishes that swim at the bottom level. For most of the time, before the food even reach to the gravel, everything has been eatten. I ve noticed one of my loach being a bit skinnier then before, and i think the problem is not getting enough food? If anyone has any advice, that would be great, Thank You. Also, how much food should i feed for 10 fishes....they seem to finish the amount i feed in the matters of seconds. Most of my fishes are around 2-2.5 inches, thank you.

algae tablets or sinking pellets or veggies all work for bottom feeders

feed your fish as much as they will eat in 2 minutes twice a day. and for the loach, what kind of loach do you have?

HOw much they can eat for 2 min. And for the loaches take a bit of water from the tank in, put them in the cup, and drop the food in the cup make them sink then drop them in the tank. What are u feeding ur fish. I do like this since i have some bottom fish. I feed mine flakes and pellets.

I am feeding flakes, and dried bloodworms, i do plan on getting some other food, but thats until i do a bit more research. I got a free pack of those algea walfers, i tried that, but before my loach even reaches it, my other upper-middle lvl swimming fishes would grab it first. So basically, i add enough food for the fish to finish around 2 minutes? Thank You.

Find yourself a long enough plastic tube, preferably not a clear one. Insert it into the tank and pour the food into the tube and it'll sink to the bottom through the tube preventing any mid or upper swimming fish being able to get at it or even seeing it...

Must say that sticking to the 'all they can eat in 2 mins' prinicple, isn't going to do a thing if hardly any food is getting to the substrate for your loaches.
Although i'm sure more would get through than you realise.
What species Loach are we talking about?

I feed my bottom dwellers Hikari Micro Pellets. They sink to the bottom, but are tiny enough so they can be eaten in one gobble. That way, my other fish won't snatch it away from them. :)

I've had issues feeding my bottom dwelling pleco for awhile. I finally figured out how to feed him though! My fish seem to recognize any tubular container has feeding time and quickly swim to the front of the tank. I just drop sinking food in the back of the tank while they are distracted. :shifty:

Put algae tablets or any sinking food, but feed them at night when the lights are turned off so the other fish dont notice it.
