Hi

I just accidently overdosed my 21L tank with Easycarbo because I wasn't concentrating. It should be dosed about 0.3ml but I dosed 1ml. I immediately did another 55%ish waterchange. Will this be ok?

I think some members in the planted tank purposefully add upto 3x the recommended dose, so given you have done a big water change too, think you will be fine.

When I got my first bottle of this stuff last year, I made an absolute howler, mixing up the dosing levels of Easycarbo and Profito... What fun it was doing an emergency ~75% water change on my 560l using 15l buckets between the garage and my upstairs flat!

1Ml isn't that much to worry about to be honest, this is near enough the recommended dosage for high-tech - high plant mass tanks, also your 55% water change will have theoretically brought your dose down to 0.45Ml, nothing to worry about.

People worry me about this overdosing with CO2... :look: maybe its ok with lots of plants in but...

Seriously.. it is liquid CO2! It is *not* good to overdose it really, i know shop staff that managed to accidentally overdose his 240L tank by misreading lable >.< and killed about £500 worth of discus! Not to mention some super quality fancy L number plecs!!

It is very easily done!

With a big water change, i would assume it wouldnt be so bad, you noticed right away so thats not so bad :) :good:

But people taking it so lightly makes me anxious...

1 ml on a 21 litre tank isn't a lot though, MBOU. If it was 10 ml then i'd be worried, but theres no need to make the OP anxious about this. If it makes you feel easier Cazzie, i used to dose 1 ml on a 20 ltr with CRS in and never had a problem. :good:

Neh, like i said, the OP did a water change, it would barely register anyways...

Was just thinking the laid back attitude to 'liquid CO" overdose in general" that was worrying, in case anyone else read the post :p

I do not dosing liquid Carbon anyway. Don't want to put anything in my tank that smells like rotten eggs.

Oh dont get me wrong, im a worry wort because i have seen close up qhat happens when it goes wrong

But it think EasyCarbo is one of the best things since sliced bread :)

Pay like £200-£300 buying a full CO2 kit and £16 every 6-8 weeks replacing co2 canister or buy a few bottles of liquid co2 with equally good results and a lot less hassel!? i like the liquid! :p

I just know what my customers can be like (most are lovely!!) and im just glad i dont sell the stuff as i think its too advanced for most :p

It is pretty evil stuff, but as long as you're careful and take necessary precautions then you shouldn't incur any problems, just don't breath it in or let the vapours enter your eyes/mouth/nose etc, and don't get it on skin, this stuff is used to kill warts, if you get it on your skin, which I did, it will kill the top layer of skin and it will go brown, not nice!

We used it at work (not carbo, but the hyde) to clean and sterilise equipment. Its actually quite high on the carcinogen ladder. So as above be careful when using. I'm unsure at the concentration of the hyde in it.

LOl this has been an eye opener, thanks guys. I didn't know it was so dangerous!

All fish seem ok. It was stupid, I wasn't thinking because 1ml is what I put in my 60l. It does all blend into a haze sometimes doesn't it
