How Overstocked?

The trip to the fish store ended so NOT like I planned LOL 3 boys under 8 and 2 teen girls picking out fish yikes

Anyways, I ended up with:

3 platys
2 mollies
apple snail

in a 10 gallon tank, how overstocked am I? Unfortunately the lady at the LFS snagged the wrong platy, and as he had his fin tucked up until we got him home and into the tank...I didnt realize I ended up with 2 males and a female so I need to call tomorrow and find out if they'll trade one out for me.

I know the stocking isn't ideal..but how bad is it? Im trying to find a CHEAP 20 gallon bare tank but geez around here they want 40 dollars for a bare one! Im thinking on just getting one and charging it on the credit card for now so I can make the stocking more ideal...if someone let's me know what I need to fix that is. The mollies seem to be perfectly happy with just 2 of them so hopefully its okay there.

honestly with proper maintance, i think that you stock is fine for a 10 gallon. snails dont create much bio load and the other 5 stay relatively small. you should be ok so long as you keep up with tank maintance, or have the kids do so

Sounds fine to me. However, if you will want to add more fish (you likely will) then an upgrade would be wise. Check out you local Craigslist ads and Ebay for a deal !

2 males and 1 female isnt bad at all...buy 1 more female next time and youd be good
