Hey guys

Just wondering how you go about adding salt?

How do you warm the water?

Do you leave it over night?

Do you do more than you need then store it for every water change in the future?

What equipment do you use?

Any tutorials or methods you use would be great!

It will only be going in my pico so I wont need much!

Thanks
Rob

Just wondering how you go about adding salt?

Most of us weigh out the appropriate amount of salt on scales

How do you warm the water?

With a heater

Do you leave it over night?

Yes, 24 hrs is good

you can do more than you need then store it for every water change in the future?

You do more than you need for say the next two to three weeks and store in the dark

What equipment do you use?

Scales
powerhead
heater

Any tutorials or methods you use would be great!

Honest, you don't need one

The only thing to add to this is that if you do store mixed water (which is definitely fine to do) you still need to make sure the water is aerated and matched to tank temperature before doing a water change, so still best to put it in a tub with a powerhead and a heater overnight before using it.

I agree with all the above, however I mix mine cold and leave it overnight to aerate using a 1800lph pump with 2 meters of hose and the following day, after the water has got up to room temp I simply drain my tank of 20% of the water and use the pump in my mixing tub to pump the new water in. I use a clamp to slow the amount of water that goes in to give the tank a chance to take the sudden change in temp.

Some of you may disagree with my method but it works for me. As long as you don't change more than 40% of the tanks total volume of water as that WOULD shock the live stock.
