I ordered 10 bunches of hornwort and water lettuce divide amongst my betta tanks. They should be delivered this week and im wondering if there's anything special I need to do for them? Do I just place them on the surface and add liquid fertilizer to the tank? What liquid fert do you recommend? I use root tabs for my planted ones but I don't have any liquid right now and I desperately want these to flourish. Any advice is appreciated!

You can let them float - when I had hornwort I twisted the stems round some branched wood, then the stems grew to the surface and carried on flat on the surface.

I use Seachem Flourish Comprehensive Supplement.

The reason I got rid of the hornwort is that it grew too well and started to strangle the other plants.
Word of warning about hornwort - if you do something it doesn't like it drops its leaves like an old Christmas tree.

Yikes! I'll keep that in mind. Maybe I'll only put it in one tank and see how I manage it. The tank I'm thinking of only has 3 amazon sword, a windelov java and 2 Kleiner bar(so it needs more plants) Have you had water lettuce before? Is it risk of strangulation if I put that and hornwort together then?

I've not kept water lettuce, but I currently have frogbit. When I had hornwort I didn't have any floating plants as the hornwort stems floated on the surface. It was the anubias and java fern that seemed to get hornwort wrapped round them.

One thing I did have to do regularly was remove the hornwort from the tank, cut away any less than perfect bits, then put the good bits back in the tank.
