I am in love with dwarf puffers, but I don't have much room. I am thinking I could get a 4-5 gallon tank for 1, but I need to know if it needs a filter and heater and airstone, or if I could do it like my bettas= doing frequent big water changes. I'm thinking that if I can't find a 4-5 gal, I can get a 10-gal, and divide it. Either put a DP on each side, or a DP on one side, a betta on the other. What kind of temp/pH/hardness does it like?

DP's are pretty tough little fish and require the same things as most fish

clean water about 79-81 Deg F

simple really nothing to special you have to do..

I have 3 and they are so cute and cool !!

You might be ok without the heater if your house stays warm all year around, but you absolutely must have a filter.

Puffers require very very clean, well aerated and mature water and are messy fish.
They also prefer some water movement.
