So I plan on getting two 15 watt compact fluorescent twisters, "Philips Marathon", but I noticed the kelvin is 2700 k  Isn't this the same as incandescent? Does it matter? I think that means a CRI of 100 from what I've read....Will this cause an algae outbreak ? Can someone please tell me if this 2700 k, 15 watt compact fluorescent will be ok for plant growth? And tell me what this kelvin means?

Ok.
Kelvin is I think the color temperture (sp?) of the light. I had a plant light that was 2700 K, and as soon as I upgraded to a 5500 K philips bulb, the plants immediately did better. It was the same lighting system too. So no, I don't think it would cause an algae outbreak, but your plants wouldn't do as well as they could.
HTH!

6700 is near sunlight, so 2700K will give your tank a reddish color. They say it's for plants, but really it won't do much good in your aquatic plant setting. Aim for 5700K to 7000K
