OK so I brought home a couple plants for my new 5g...they are too tall. Can I cut them and replant them? Do I cut from the top? How do I get them to stay in the gravel?

Thanks a bunch.

Here is a picture you can tell which ones are fake and which are real (the really tall ones are the ones I am talking about)

Thats a really pretty plant. I've seen it b4 but can't remember the name of it. You should be able to trim it at the top with out a problem. But say your small plants on the bottom grew out of control, you'd want to trim a leafy plant at the base. The way I keep my new plants down is just by surrounding the base with extra gravel or ecolite if you have it (substrate meant for plants) and then placing either aquarium weights or what ever rocks I have in there on around the base. If you have a heavy ornament that will do. Eventually they will root and you can remove the weights. HTH :)

i had the same plant too before, the one the left that is, and i also forgot the name ! its a good plant but mine started to turn bushy on the top because for every node i cut it grew around 2 more plants there and before i knew it the bottom stems of the plant died because of light deprivation and it started getting around.... :D but its a fast grower

Thanks. What about the big leafy one next to it? Do the same thing?

The one on the right? Hygrophila polysperma. Same thing as limnophila. Just clip and plant! Usually the plant will develop roots above the substrate, it's good to cut just below those so you have instant roots!!
HTH!

EDIT: If you look at my Krib picture, that's the plant behind her. :)
