hey guys,
im thinking of in the near future going brackish.
at the moment ive got a nice tank that is 2ft high 2ft wide and 4ft long.
its currently got 1. Æquidens Rivulatus (green terror) 9" and a Vieja fenestratus 7".
ive been eagerly interested in brackish, and i think my tank has great potential :)
im open to pretty much any sugestions, only i prefer medium to large fish i dont want tiny ones.
thanks in advance:)

Greetings.

Neither of the fish you list is (to the best of my knowledge) a brackish water fish in the wild. This isn't to say they won't tolerate brackish water, I'd imagine both will do fine at SG 1.005, but just that if you want a "serious" brackish system there are other cichlids that do well at SG 1.010 or more (Vieja maculicauda for example).

Your other problem is that both of these are fairly territorial fish, and the Aequidens especially. I'd imagine that fish will consider your aquarium its entire territory!

There are lots of nice medium sized brackish water species in the trade. You might want to review the pinned topics here to get some ideas, or maybe my FAQ at the link below. Do you have anything specific in mind?

Cheers, Neale

well everything in the tank is going:)
and ive discussed it with a friend of mine who is knowledgable.
and he said i could have a few smaller type of archer
a couple of mono, maybe a small type of Puffer or goby.
any combinations with these kinds of fish or similar will be of great interest to me :)
thanks in advance :D
