I managed to save my Takifugu occelatus from sea lice once already. I saw one his head just now. I also just redid the filter as well. My tank is now suddenly extremly cloudy. I have this problem every time I redo the filter. I leave media with bacteria so that is not really the problem. It is like sediment. It does not seem to affect the fish at all. It is like the thick haze you get when you add crushed coral substrate. I thought my puffers were clean, but I woke this morning to a cloudy tank with my puffers covered in sea lice! What is going on? SG: 1.018, ph: 7.9,ect. Water conditions are fine. It looks like a mess and I cannot get the cloudieness out, the particles are very fine.

Do freshwater dips for the puffer, and gradually decrease the water (over weeks, not hours) to freshwater, and then back up again. The fish will be hardy and resilient to the changes in water chemistry (not the changes to nitrogen content, the freshwate/brackish changes) and the parasites will not.

When doing a water change, remove the brackish water, and some freshwater, repeat until the SG is freshwater, then take it back up again. You may find the sea lice die before it gets that far...

Wont go below 1.012. Cannot capture all fish at once for dips. I always miss one puffer each time. The little rascals are fast!

What prevents you from going below that level? It really is the safest most natural option to decrease the level of salt in the water, naturally and then raise it again. Using something like an anti-louse medication would be something I'm not sure I would want to risk with T.ocellatus, little is known about them and it would be a shame to risk it.
