My Oscars are a permanent faded colour, even more so during a water change. What information do I need to give for you guys to tell you what may be making them so stressed out.

they will ask test results for
ph
ammonia
nitrite
nitate

also most probably what you feed them.

although i probably cant help out in the diagnosis.

good luck

Amonia and nitrite is nill. A little nitrate about 40ppm. I think it could well be the food as they tend to stuff themselves them float about turing white. Its mainly the mussel ad spirulina tabs that they eat that is too large for them, but i can't stop them getting it and have to feed the other fish!!

by the way, how do I add an image to a post?

People do have jobs as well as being fish fanatics. Have patience and they will help for the love of fish

my guess would be that they're pale from stress. are all of them pale or just two of them? if one of them is generally darker than the other two, then its probably because he's the dominant oscar and is bossing the others around too much.

i'd also be concerned about how they're getting along with the mbu. i know that you've said that they're fine together, but you can't be watching all the time. how do the oscar's fins look? nipped fins is one of the first signs of fishy aggression.

i also hope that this is not your final tank, as you will have too many fish in there once they are all adults. the mbu will also need a much larger tank (absolutely no smaller than 6x2x2 and ideally no smaller than 8x3x2).

I am absolutely posative the mbu and the oscars get on fine, the oscars fins are unipped and they don't bully each other. They swim around in a threesome. Its not my final tank. As soon as I move I want to start cycling an 800L tank. I am confused about why they are stressd!!! Could it be overcrowing>? lack of oxygen? I plan to give away my bala sharks to make room. do you think this will help? I'm also getting a new top of the range eheim pro filter for x mas. Will any of this help?
