I could please use some help determining the sex on a few of my cichlids. The first 2 are my double reds the last 2 are my gold rams. Thanks in advance.

Looking at the tip of the dorsal and anal fin, I'd say:
pic#1 female (round tip of the dorsal fin), pic#2 male (tip of the dorsal fin looks pointy but it's not very clear for the tip could also be bend a bit), pic#3 female and pic#4 not clear by this angle of photo taken.

But maybe someone else may have better eyes than me...

The Rams are not Gold Rams but standard Blue Rams. I would say pic 3 female, pic 4 probably male.

I think the round fin is the case for most chiclids but for the "double red" chiclids, both genders have sharp fins.

Double Reds are a strain of Apistogramma cacatuoides.

There are also A. agassizi sold as double red. Chilton Aquatics has some on their current stock list. Though whether they really are double reds is the question.

Thanks @Essjay

Double red means they bred a strain with two bright red fins instead of one, then ‘triple red’ when they had three red fins. That was cacatuoides. I guess they must be doing it with agassizi now... and presumably more will show up further down the line.

How long before the triple red double tail calico snakeskin blushing blue Ram, I wonder.
