well today I bought 2 albanio corys and one is very small and the other is medium size well anyways I put both of them in my tank and came back about 20 mins later and the smaller one has pretty much his whole tail bitten off!
He is not doing well and I was wondering what would be the best way to fix this?
Thanks william

The fin will repair itself in good water and good conditions. I have had corys from the shop with poor fins and mine have always repaired themselves. You need to make sure nothing will nip them again. If the fin is bitten too far down you might get a fungal infection on the fish so be vigilant. I think melafix is useful too.

If you google melafix you will find information on it. I was right about it helping damaged fins.

thanks alot pittdownpaul Ill try to get some melafix and Im guessing I should only have him in the tank by himself?
could I keep him and another small cory by himself in a 1.5g till hes better?

Well its a bit small-cant you keep him on his own-the trouble is they prefer company. 1.5 gallons isnt very much. Is he very small?(young i mean)

yes he is very small like around a inch long and yes he has company I have the other small cory which I know isnt much but the rest of my corys are pretty big and he is just sitting there is that a good sign?
The tank does have filtration

Well they do have a habit of sitting still on their lower fins. I think its gonna be a case of wait and see and hope for the best.

Melafix is only good if the fins are not infected.
Has another fish done it, nibbled his tail.
Corsy can sit around for a while, just make sure he't not leaning to oneside as that can be bacterial.
Make sure he has no sores on his body or red streaking.
How does his barbels look do they look thin and short.
How does his body weight look.

thanks pittsdownpaul alot for the fast replys and help
Should I get melafix and when I get it should I put it in the tank and have him by hisself? by the way I have to get off but Ill be on in the morning thanks for all the help

Melafix is over priced and overated in my opinion its only good on cuts and wounds, when fins are healing.

I cant comment on how good it is unfortunately as i havent used it, i just recommended it because it was the name that came to mind for fin damage.

Do a search on melafix and pimafix how do they work.
It will fetch the info up on other site and some interesting info on pimafix and melafix.

yes im pretty sure that a fish has nibbled it and yes you can see some red on him

Where the red on him fins or body.

well on his tailfin is where it is red it almost all the way gone
