Watching fish.
I have 2 comet goldfish, and I'd love to know if they are able to breed.
I know that they are too young to breed yet, but I'd love to know for the future.
One is a regular orange/gold color and the other one is turning that, still a little bit brown.

My Gold/Orange fish is Piranha which looks very similar to the one in my avatar.

His or her Tail fin isn't quite a V shape, it's a very small one if that. He usually chases my other fish around, which is a sign of a Male.

My other Fish that is brownish is Oreo, It's a younger fish with a Tail fin that's longer and more shaped like a V, also smaller.

Any other advice would be appreciated.

Hi Jpmc and :hi: to TFF,

I have moved your topic to our coldwater section where you will get specialist goldfish help.

BTT :good:

hi
males will get tubicals they are white spots that appear around the gill plates dorsal and pectral fins, they are often confused with whitespot.

also females tend to be rounder in shape males thinner

for them to bred you will have to give them a winter, they have to go through the season temp changes for females hormones to kick in to develope and produce eggs
goldies start young my 2 year old goldie G.T has just bred along with the older goldies but hes in a pond

Tubercules! :good: As said, males will develop small raised white bumps on the operculum and on the leading edge of the pectoral fins. The leading edge of the pectoral fins is usually thicker in males as well.

If they're in a tank, it's possible to breed them at any time of year if you're prepared to go about changing the temperature of the water. My tank-kept fish tend to spawn a few hours after a major water change. :)

the chasing around could be territorial as well..goldies need space.
