I have 1 (what I suspect is pregnant)black balloon molly in a 5 gallon quarintine tank. She just started getting white spots on her mouth, end of her fins, and back. I thought it was ick,so I took out the carbon in the filter and started dosing the tank with ick attack, but it wasn't clearing up like previous cases have so then I stopped the ick attack and started pimafixthis morning and now I just got home and she has two large white spots on either side of her gills and her back is looking a little faded. I'm scared for the life of her and her future babies. Could anyone help until I go to the fish shop tomorrow? I don't want to sound stupid but, will the treatments I put in the water hurt the fry in side her? please help!

P.S. hopefully I can learn to post a picture tomorrow, I'm not very computer savy. :/

Hi there,

I've reported thos topic as it needs to be moved to the emergencies section, you'll get a better response in there. So don't be surprised if it moves!

Firstly you'll need to give us some more details before we can help, can you tell us the tank size, is it cycled, what are the test readings for pH, ammonia, nitrite and nitrate, what other fish are in there?

thank you so much for repying and here are my stats 0 Nitrite, 0 Nitrates, 0 Ammonia, and 6.0 PH. :/ I know the PH looks bad, but I have been trying to work on it.I have this buffer that I got from my LFS and it's called Alkaline Regulator. The molly is in a (cycled) 5 gal quarintine tank right now, with no other fish, but she was in a 36 gallon tank with 4 male guppies and 4 neon tetras. I know you are suposed to have more girls than boys but the guppies didn't harass her at all. she did have a case of ick a few days after I got her but she was already in the quarintine tank then so I started treating it and it went away( I still kept her in the quarintine tank for a few weeks and then moved her to the main tank). Now it;s a few weeks after she was moved into the main tank and she has something that looks like ick on her finns but now she has a dim color on her back and her eyes are hazy. :/ does this have to do with the low PH. I didn't want to stress her by changing PH..... what should I do?

Never stop using the whitespot med till the spots can have then you are meant to treat another week.
Whitepsot can take two rounds of treatment sometimes.
How big are the whitespots and do they have a red tinging to them.

No redness... she has spots like ick but hazy eyes and adim back right now ( I think it could be mucus) I'll start the ick attack again, just don't know. What do you use for disease treatments?

If she still has the ick spots you need to carry on with the med.
Raise temp to 30 and also increase aeration in the tank.
