hi, today i saw that one of my brother's tiger barbs was dead. it was against the filter, and when i took it out, a silvertip tetra swam away form the filter inlet. it has severe fin rot, and down one side most of the scales are missing. also, its stomach has been eaten away by something (i don't know if it is infection or if it's been attacked). the tank is 120l, and the stocking is: 12 silvertip tetras (including ill one), 5 tiger barbs, 5 glowlight tetras, 8 cherry barbs, 2 kribs (with babies) and a load of MTS. is there anything that could save it? i could possibly get some melafix tonight, would that work? and could i put the injured fish into an ice cream tub, with an airstone in, so the medication doesn't kill the snails and i don't have to use as much?
it's strange that there is a dead tiger barb (which i couldn't tell what was wrong with it, as it had apparently been eaten quite a bit before i saw it) and an ill silvertip tetra, as there has been no illness in the tank at all since it was set up just after Christmas. no fish have been added for a couple of months.
cheers
