I have no clue what it is.. It looks very raw and tender.. he's a telescope fish btw.. Can anyone help me figure out what it is so I can get the proper meds for him.. I don't see any worms or parasites on him in that area.. please help..
Thanks..
Jamie

I'm guessing ulcer  but not too sure. Is it lined in red? What size tank, what fish with him, how's his breathing, what are the water params?

He is in with another telecope fish and a calico fantail.. they are in a 30 gallon tank.. His breathing is fine and he's swimming around like there is nothing wrong with him but the sore looks very painful.. it is red around the outside and white in the middle.. it reminds me of a canker sore and it just keeps getting worse.. I haven't checked the water..

Does it look like he has a white thread hanging off of thread sore?

No I don't notice any white thread hanging off of the sore.. The sore is really red around the outer part and in the middle its all white and in the very center of the white it looks like there is a hole starting to form.. He's such a cute fish.. I would love to save him.. :/

Seems like it may be an ulcer as someone mentioned above. Take a look at this SITE and see if it helps you out and if this is what he may have.
