Hello,

I have bba in my 120g tank. I do not dose with CO2 and I have two T5 54w 6400k lights. I currently only use one of the lights though to help with the algae (don't know if this is actually doing anything).

New to plants so really have no idea how to handle this.

I've got some anubias and crypts. It's really bad on the anubias and has started to get some of the crypts.

I cut off the really bad leaves but it is on all of them, so I don't want to be left with no leaves at all...

How can I get rid of it?

Using a mixture of excel and water 1:20 ratio in a spray bottle, drop water to expose algae to air and spray it with mix, refill tank and it will die off, I'm guessing your doing water changes with lights on?

do it after lights out or 3 hours before lights on as tap water had lots of CO2 in it meaning fluctuations.

Do I have to do this as long as I have the tank, or can I go back to wc with lights on once its cleared up?

No do it as long as you have the tank as doing them with lights on is what causes algae.

Sorry to bump this back up. I spray with diluted excel, but haven't noticed a huge improvement after a week. It's gone down a bit, but it's still there. I didn't notice any colour change and falling off (I read this is what happens when using this method). The rhizomes and the roots are infected. On some rhizomes I had to cut off all leaves, does this mean it will not grow without its leaves?

Also, I've noticed some of the anubias leaves are shredded in half. I think my congo tetras are eating them. Is this normal, anything I can do to stop them?

Is it worthwhile to get maybe 4 siamese algae eaters, since I read they eat bba?

And one last question, I have a large window facing the aquarium. I have experienced no algae issues because of it (the tank was in another room before and I already had the bba problem). Because I now turn off the lights during w/c, does that mean I should keep the blinds closed as well?
