I've made a few groups of fish that I like to go in a 15 gallon tank and just want some opinions on what group would be best. Suggestions on the number of each fish to be kept in the group you choose and what type of cory's to get would help alot.

Group 1:
Dwarf Gourami
Neon or Cardinal tetras
Cory's

Group 2:
tetras
guppies
cory's

Group 3:
dwarf gourami
tetras
guppies

Group 4:
tetras
cory's

Group 5:
platies
tetras

Ignore the poll can't get rid of it sorry.

for starter fish

i like platy -swordtail -- they might breed to & they can breed together to

if get 1 male per 3 females

cory's the smaller ones are cool -- group of 4 at least

neons are cool to

my first fish were about 5 platies and 15 guppies with a ratio of 1male to every 4 females i had a whole heap of weeds and hidy-holes and the fish bred like crazy, it was soo cool to watch and i named them ALL and my sister and i would sit for ages and try to spot the fry. (and name them before they had any distinguishing features. then later argue over which was which.) i think i was 12.
anyhoo, i should stop rambling, i think that you should go with the guppies, cories and tetras (but thats just because i had a bad experiece with a bad gorami who ate my favourite pleco)

well, didn't EAT him just scare him to death and leave him to rot, he killed about $80 worth of fish. needless to say i took the bugger back!

Personally i'd go for:

Group 1:
Dwarf Gourami
Neon or Cardinal tetras
Cory's

I'm a big fan of Gouramis and although I haven't got any of the Dwarf variety i'm sure their great. I like both the varieties of Tetra, unfortuantly I struggle to find the Cardinal Tetra locally. I did see some in Maidenhead Aquatics the other day but there was only about 20 and they were already resreved. As for the Cory's my personal favourites are the Pandas. :)

I'd go for group 1 too (with cardinals). A nice shoal of cardinals, a nice group of corys and a centerpiece Gourami... probably one of the red/blue striped ones just to keep the colour theme, lol.

How about none of the above, and go with an african butterfly fish and either a pair of rams or pair of apistos
:hey:

thanks for all the replies I think im gonna go with group 1 and get cardinals instead of neons. how many cardinals and how many cories do you all recommend?

I picked number 1. I would get one neon dwarf gourami, 6 neon tetras, and 5 corys. For the corys I would get pandas, they are small and cute. :D

I wouldn't bother with the dwarf gourami or the panda cories, unless you want to be posting a similar poll in a few weeks ;) They're notoriously fragile. Even many LFS dont recommend them any more (dwarf gouramis that is).

I liked the idea of platies, tetras and cories. Platies are pretty and fun to watch, cories the same - and clean up well, and the tetras add the splash of colour.

agreed

i wouldn't go for any of the above to be completely honest. why not go for something a bit different

a little group of cories then 2 small groups of micro rasboras :D
