Has anyone used it in their planted tanks?
I'm reluctant to use it in mine.
I do use it in my "non" planted tanks and it works really well.
Any input would be great.

It is better to treat the cause of algae rather than the symptom. If you don't the algae will return - and probably even more of it. Algone may rid you of your algae but when the treatment has exhausted the algae will return as you have not eliminated the cause. Finding the cause is the trickier bit. Try this link

In a non-planted tank I would just not have the lights on until I am viewing the tank.

Hi, I have not used that product but I have seen something advertised which is a "natural" product and is totally harmless. I bought some but have not used it as the main problem was overfeeding. The product is by spectacular aquariums, you can order it from www.spectacularaquariums . Sorry, don't know what the p&p would be for abroad. Not trying to advertise, I bought it because I had a bad algae problem and as it is made from barley straw it is harmless. Also it was advertised in a fishkeeping magazine. I am also going to try putting a nitrate removing sponge in my filter (Juwel Rekord96) as keeping the nitrates down also keeps the algae down. Obviously I do water changes and cleaning as well. Hope it works! I have a pleco which I bought recently and he is doing a good job too. :)
