Well inside my guppy Iknow that they hold eggs that eventually form into fry inside the mother. Aremothers always holding eggs and just waiting for a male to fertilize them. Or are the eggs growing in them ecausefertilization that has already happened if sohowlong does this take. This question is because I had a female that I thaught was real pregnent pass away and despite what some of you might like.. I thaught possibl it could have babys inside that I could save so I cutopen the deceased mother andfound nothingbut about 8 to 10 yellow eggs. was she even pregnent? or am I just to concerned about the natural short life of a guppy. please give me info on the bearing of guppy babies!!

blimey excuse me for saying that cutting her open to save what you thought was fry wasnt needed, not having a go at you cause i understand your reasons why you did this, guppy eggs if unfertilized are yellow/green so she wasnt pregnant, just holding some eggs ready and waiting for a male to come along thats all, guppy pregnancy takes 4 weeks for the fry to be born and its just simply letting your guppy get on with it, just keep fresh water by doing your water changes and check the water stats once a week or when needed to make sure the water is healthy for your fish, guppies die so often and their lifespan if grow old is only about 1 year give an take a few months, you will notice a female guppy get really fat in 4 weeks when shes pregnant.
