I've posted before for the female with a bloody red spot on her head. she's dead and half eaten when i came back from thxgiving dinner. I originally got one trio and one reversed trio guppies (3 male + 3 female = total 6). two males' started split and died within two days. i got them out. treated the tank with maracyn one for two days and then i used maracyn for one day in their hospital tank.

after a week or so after the old tank cleared up from cloudiness, i put the rest four ( 1 male + 3 femal) into the tank. the smallest female had a really bright red spot on her head like she hurt herself or something. i used melafix for five days. now it's the fifth day.

I went to thxgiving dinner with my family and then i came back. the female was dead at the bottom. my shrimp ate 1/4 of her. WHAT SHOULD I DO???

i think the virus is from the gouramis that my frd bought from walmart which left in my tank for two days and pollluted my tank.
but WHAT CAN I DO???

First, please fill this out as it will help anyone trying to diagnose the problem you are having;

Tank size:
pH:
ammonia:
nitrite:
nitrate:
kH:
gH:
tank temp:

Fish Symptoms (include full description including lesion, color, location, fish behavior):

Volume and Frequency of water changes:

Chemical Additives or Media in your tank:

Tank inhabitants:

Recent additions to your tank (living or decoration):

Exposure to chemicals:

Digital photo (include if possible):

A day or two of Maracyn isn’t going to help a bacterial problem, just like a day or two of antibiotics wouldn’t help you if your doctor determined antibiotics were needed. 5 to 7 days minimum of Maracyn & MaracynII will usually work for bacterial problems.

You are adding way too many water treatments to your tank, the only one really needed is Prime, and the pH 7.0 buffer may be causing more harm than good. You stated in a previous post that your water is a little hard, hardness stabilizes pH, meaning you are adjusting the pH to 7.0, and the hardness moves it back towards the original reading in a short amount of time. This is called a pH swing, and is very stressful for fish.

Fish will acclimate to most any pH, guppys are very adaptable. I would set up a hospital tank for the sick fish, and use the Mardell products with a 50% daily water change. Forget about any pH altering chemicals, as well as the salt, stress coat, and cycle you are adding.
