hello

i just added three green tiger barbs to my tank...

BEAUTIFUL fish

only two of them have nipped fins it seems,

the tip of ones tail is gone, just the very tip

and the other ones dorsal and other finds are a bit uneven and town looking, like spikey...

should i isolate them in a tank and use meds? any suggestions?

Any white or red edging to fins.
Do fins look cloudy or transparant.
Are fins sticking together.
Any holes in fins.

the largest green barbs fins are transparent, no holes and red or white edging?

do you mean like the edges of their fins are whitish or red color?

i have one agressive tiger barb

the original tiger, on of the first three that i bought

just recently he has been agressive, he was the one chasing the female around alot, now hes chasing pretty much all of them, should i isolate him in a separate container? as well as the injured green barbs in another container? ????

Their fins will grow back, just make sure the water is kept clean. I have had several come home from the LFS with nipped fins because there were a ton of them crammed into a not so large tank. One of my green tigers came home missing an eye  and he did just fine too. Some others may recommend a med to help the fins grow back, but I've had luck with just staying on top of water changes. I don't like to medicate unless I have to, especially when there are other fish in the tank.

For the aggressive tiger, do you have another tank or something to isolate him in? Get him out of the tank if you can for a couple of hours, re-arrange the decor, and then introduce him back in. That should hopefully help ease some of the aggression.

Edit: Just noticed something. You may also think about upgrading tank size. A 10 Gallon won't give them enough swimming space as they grow, and the aggression may end up getting worse rather than better.

omg missing an eye!?!? wow thats pretty gruesome...

before i introduced the three new green tigers i rearranged the decor because i didnt want any original tigers to be territorial and protect their tank and spots and what not

then i introduced them and things were fine until that psyco barb got comfortable enough with the other to chase them and whatever else...

the thing about upgrading tank size is that i dont know if i am obtaining a 75 gallon from a relative or not... he said hell GIVE it to me, and he is knowledgeable about fish but i dont kow if its for sure,

cuz if it is i dont wanna waste money and get a 30 gallon when he's giving it to me, and if i find out hes not then i will upgrade... plus i need some money first... lol

Yes the edging of the fins will look white or red if its bacterial finrot. Red edging to fins is septicemia.
Translucents fins can be a sign of bacterial finrot.

I think I would maybe half dose some melafix. It's better to issolate the fish and treat there.

melafix? okay sounds good... i have an extra box filter that i can use for a hospital tank, i just dont have an extra tank!

would a 5 gallon bucket work with a box filter work?

I would just add the melafix to the main tank but only half dose, Not all fish tolerate the full dose of melafix.

okay i will probably do that then..

is there any special way to add it? any technique or should i just follow the instructions? lol

im clueless..

if you think itsbetter to isolate please say so cuz im not an expert lol -_-

Just follow the instructions. But don't add full dose.
Good Luck.
