Hi,
i just moved my small 10 gal of 10 tiger barbs from the table to the floor. everything stayed intact; same filter; same airpump. However, i see that the fishes are very agitated (fins and body moves very fast like trembling) and they are swimming extremely fast only at the bottom level. I am wondering if putting the aqurium at a certain height affexts the fish.

Thanks

Maybe they can feel more vibrations on the floor from people walking around, chairs moving, etc. Where the table would absorb those vibrations a little more. Just a guess.

The difference in gravity from the table to the floor is negligible. Is there a difference? yes. But, it's difference is very, very, very, very tiny. The acceleration due to gravity at sea level on Earth is 9.8 m/s^2 (9.80665 is you want to be super picky). On top of Everest, which is 8,850 m high, the acceleration due to gravity is only 0.28% less. Or, in other words, instead of 9.8 m/s^2, it is 9.77 m/s^2, a very tiny amount.

Moving your fish tank just a few feet up would be a completely insignificant change in gravity.

Besides, fish in the wild change altitudes all the time, like the salmon that swim back upstream, they are also going up in altitude, too.

You've probably just stressed them out with the move, or with the people walking by right next to their tank. Give them some time (like several days) to see if they calm down.

It depends on how big the TBs are and the filtration/maintenance, but it is most likely overstocked. Just a heads up.
