Gravel Vacing

how do you guys vac your substrate without messing up your decor? i recently set up my tank and there's little paths through out it along with "graves" (its a BootHill graveyard scene). How can I vac it without messing everything up?

a small ended gravel vac i would have thought will do the job.

the one we have is about an inch - inch and a half in diameter. it's from our old saltwater tank. i won't be allowed to get another .
