:dunno: I have 2 gourami's who are behaving very strange (i think!)
I have 2 dwarf gourami (one male and one female) and 2 lace or pearl gourami (I'm not sure which?) I am not sure of the sexes of these either as they both look the same but on reading my fishie book I have detected that one of these is beginning to change colour round the chest area to reddish-my book says this is the male??. ANYWAY my question is, the female dwarf gourami AND the lace gourami (the one without the red chest) both seem to stay out of the way of their mates. Sometimes they swim with them ok but then other times they hide in the plant foilage. Is there a problem here? I have also noticed that sometimes when swimming together the males chase and nudge them- that's when they hide! Is this a thing that gouramis do or have I got a problem! :S :/

I wouldn't worry unless they are nipping each other or the fish are hiding all the time and not eating. I'm pretty sure it is the fish equivalent of "Not tonight dear, I have a headache."

Hi billy. :)

Gouramis are just like that. Unless one of them is getting injured, don't worry about it. It looks worse than it is.

Gouramis are territorial and tend to chase other gouramis. If you provide plants so that the ones being chased (in this case the females) have a place to escape to, they should be alright.

thanks Inchworm and Moe I shalln't worry to much. Quite interesting though - they seem to be friends at the moment!!!
