Gouramis don't get pregnant as such. They are egglayers, and for babies to happen, a male and female must be present together in the tank when she is ready to lay eggs. They must both be in the mood. She lays her eggs and he ejects his sperm over them while embracing her. She then needs to be removed before she eats the eggs. And all other fish should have been removed at this stage or they will snack on eggs and fry. Once the fry have consumed their egg yolk and are free-swimming, they also need to be separated from their dad. Dwarf gourami fry are small and notoriously difficult to rear.
Basically, it is biologically impossible to get fry from a gourami on its own. This can only happen with livebearers, and with a very few fish that carry fertilised eggs.
