I can't believe I hadn't had Cory Cats before, I've been keeping fish for almost 10 years!

I got 3 adorable julii cory's. Now, I know they scavange for leftovers and must be fed sinking pellets, but I am curious if they eat algae at all. I get algae on the gravel and rocks that my pleco never touches. Will the cory's?

Thanks!!

Hmm... no, cories don't eat alage. They have the wrong type of mouths. :p Tell those lazy plecos to get workin!!

Thanks :) I figured as much. That pleco is the laziest thing :p I never even see it, it hides all day. I remember it being very pretty when I bought it 4 years ago...a clown pleco.

My pleco never came out during the day. I would wake up and suddenly see a clean patch. maybe they are nocturnal - or maybe he was just scared of me. lol

They certainly are nocturnal, which is why you never see them doing much, HOWEVER, I can assure you that if they left you would definitely notice the difference!

I have two Amano shrimp that live on algae, they never stop working at it, deffinitely worth getting. If you get any dont put them in with medium to large fish, i learnt from a bad experience when two of mine got their heads bitten off

cory's prefer sand over gravel and the sand will prevent them from getting barbel infections. i have five dwarf cory's theyre my favorite fish. also never put any salt in with corys it's a surefire way to kill them.
