Now i've passed my driving test I can take myself to and from my LFS when I want!! I'm gonna go tommorow and just know that I will buy something to fill the extra room in my tanks.
What could I add though?? (Can't be that Big! Around 2-3" Fully-Grown would be ideal)

TANK A -
Betta
Head + Tail Tetra
Neon Tetra
Cory Catfish
Yellow-Spotted Plec

(Maybe Barbs in this tank???)

TANK B -
Betta
Kissing Gourmai's
Cory Catfish
Pitbull Plec's

(No-Idea what to add into this tank!!)

Any suggestions welcome!

THANKS
:good:

only need tank size dont need water parameters as you havent stated you have a problem. People get a bit over excited with them every question asked we need water parameters lol most of the questions given dont require them like this one for instance.

Water parameters as in hard or soft? - the current fish aren't too picky and there is no point suggesting intolerant species if the existing fish are at the edges of their tolerance.

LOL!! Don't worry - I don't mind giving my parameters!! It's fully cycled Ammonia 0 Nirtite 0 etc. - my water is fairly soft but to be honest it's generally in the middle, so unless a fish requires dead hard or dead soft water then they should be fine.

I can't remember tank sizes, but I know for example - I could get about another 6 Neons in Tank A and probably 6 in Tank B... just so you know roughly how big the fish can be!!

Timmy, if you want serious answers (not just finger in the air) either give us the make and model of your tanks (for instance Juwel Rekord 70) or get out a tape measure and give us the height, width and depth of the tanks.

It would also help to know how long those tanks have actually been running - not just to know that they are "cycled". Some fish will really only stand a fair chance in a mature tank of 6+ months.

The tanks have been running for Since October last year (so 8 months)...

The reason I am not keen to give my tank capacity is because I know a lot of people of this forum follow the inch-per-gallon rule (which I don't) and I know that as soon as I post my tank size there would be uproar over it, everyone would say that I have no room for anything else!!

I have 2 filters in both tanks and the stocking technique I use is to judge for myself if I have room for more fish.

Don't expect any help at all then... Stockinmg levels depends on many things, tanks size, filtration, fish, territoriality... Tank size and exact number of fish would help.

Hi,

If you know roughly how many fish you can still get in your tank ie. 6 neons, then y don't you just work out how big they will be and then go to lfs, browse and if you see something thats fits the size buy it. I think you have already upset people by not giving out tank sizes and if your guiselines for stocking is using your own intuition then y not use that rather then asking.

If you did give out tank size and people say 'hey no your over stocked no more fish' would you go ahead and buy more anyway or listen?

One more thing is that you say you have a head n tail tetra and neon tetra. Just the 2 cos tetras like to be in schools of at least 6. So maybe you shuold just add more of these to make them more happy.

Yeah, there's already 6 of each.

Well, unless you happen to have upgraded, Tank A is only 54l, with, according to your profile,
1 Simease Fighting Fish - Male (Betta splendens) - Dark Blue
6 Head and Tail Tetra (Hemigrammus ocllifer)
2 Albino Cory Catfish (Corydoras spp.)
2 Bronze Cory Catfish (Corydoras spp.)
6 Neon Tetras (Paracheirodon innesi)
1 Yellow-Spotted Pleco (Hopliancistrus tricornis)
1 Female Guppy (Poecilia Reticulata)

Thats more than enough for that tank size. As for tank B, well, it'd have to be over 30g for the impulse buy gourmais, that are terratorial, as are the bettas.

No offense to anyone and don't take this as me trying to start an arguement or anything and I don't want any comments like 'there's the door' - but this forum doesn't seem like what it used to be :-(

I know what you mean - all fightin and bitcin....

But
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! on passing your driving test.
going to the lfs on your own is a cool thing

while you're browsing - don't get barbs to go in with youe betta, will you? they will nip his fins

THANKS!! First of all thanks for agreeing with me that this forum is changing in a bad way and secondly thanks for the congratulations!!
I'm all excitied about making my first solo trip! It will be nice to be able to browse without being rushed by my dad!! :hyper:

I'm seriously thinking about cherry barbs - do they need to school or are they ok with a pair???

THANKS

I'd love to get some barbs - green tigers - but even with 6 tanks on the go none could accommodate them - I'd love them in a fully planted tank of their own.
yes I understand they need to school and that they will nip fins.

But as I've never kept any you need to get advice from those that have.

And in case anyone thinks I am yet another teenager who knows no better - my daughter is taking driving lessons just now.....
