Only got a 30 gallon tank set up now and alot happier.
Less is more.
Decided just to have the one tank after my ranchu goldfish died.
To be honest lost interest abit when I had three tanks, find it better with just the one.
Anybody feel the same.

I know what you mean. Sometimes it feels like I don't have enough time for all my fish with 7 different setups total and being a sophmore in college it's quite difficult. But I love them all dearly and they are well taken care of, so I'm not worried just wish I had more time to watch them swim around. :fish: :fish:

Think when I started I got the fish keeping bug and wanted more tanks.
But now I had fish for over 4 years I no longer feel the need for more than one tank.
Plus i''m not stressed that I have three tanks to maintain.

Thats the reason I dont think id ever go to more then 2 :) can easily get to the point where you've got loads of tanks for the sake of having loads, then spend very little time actually appreciating any :)

The reason why I have 2 tanks at the moment is that in the beginning I just didn't know what I was buying in terms of compatibility. And then I inherited another tank from a friend. I am now working on a 180 litre set-up in which I hope to combine all my fish but the betta. That should leave me with 1 big and 1 small tank.

I know what you mean. I had a 55 gallon for years. In the beginning it was awesome having such a big tank, but...I could never quite get the decorating right. I just could never make the thing look right and I could never make the thing look right, no matter what I did to it or what kind of fish were in it. The other drawback was that it was a lot of trouble to move, which I did a lot since I used to move a lot.

So I finally sold that one and got a 10 gallon. But the 10 gallon was too small to really put anything appreciable in, at least to me.

Then my dad finally wanted to get rid of his 20 gallon and gave that one to me. Now I'm left with a very deep sense of satisfaction, even though there are only currently 3 fish in there and plastic decor.

I guess it was about the right balance with me. No matter how many or what kind of tanks I would have had, I would have been satisfied with none other than what I have now.

That's why I've stopped at 4 tanks. There are plenty of other fish I'd like to keep, but not right now. I'm busy enough maintaining the 4 aquariums I have, also, I'd have to start chucking furniture to fit in any more tanks.

I often wonder how I manage to maintain 7 tanks myself, what with being out at work 5-6 days a week from 6.30am to 7pm and managing to keep my 4 cats and one hungry BF fed and watered as well. Somehow I do though and enjoy it enormously :D

Bloody hell Jenny! All that and you maintain a 'Dub too??? I only have two tanks with a third getting ready, and the third is only there to breed food for the "inmates" of one of the other tanks! I'd love a big setup, but starting to wonder if I REALLY want a big setup or not? My tanks are lovely as they are! That said, I think the reason is that the two tanks look after themselves, especially my oldest tank. A weekly partial water change and hoovering of the gravel is all thats needed, it's got a lovely balance and the fish are always very happy. Have only ever lost three fish in the two years I've owned it. One was because it got beaten up, one because he was a sickly fish and just snuffed it and one because it was a coldwater Chinese Hillstream Loach (my mate managed to smash his tank, so he grabbed the fish, chucked it into a cup of water and we temporarily housed it in my aquarium. Could we catch the bugger after that? Could we hell!). I think I just want a new challenge. I'll sell my tanks and go marine eventually, but not for a LONG LONG time!

Personally if i could only have one tank i wouldnt bother to keep fish at all, even with 20 tanks and something like 2200 gallons of water i still find there are fish i'd like but cant have for one reason or another. Next time i move house i'll build an even bigger fish house so i can fit 40 or 50 tanks in and one of a couple of thousand gallons.

If you get a bigger fish house it will be your fish that say they have a human house at the end of their garden.

Dude, buy a lake. It's cheaper.

Two 'dubs, Dave! ;)

Marine for me one day too...even if it's a nano set up with rock, corals and shrimp etc :D

Hah! A stock '72 Bug, a heavily modified '69 Baja Bug (built from scratch by me!) and a '57 Moggy! Got more cars than you :p
