I recently bought 7 apple snails (nothing wrong with them!) and since they have been in there it is like the 2 loaches (they are chinese algae eaters) are almost sulking, they have stopped swiming about and sit hidden under rocks in shade.

then this morning i could not even find one of them....has it does and been eaten???

It may be that while these 'sucking loaches' are young they eat a lot of algae and, your apple snails may have taken away a lot of the 'sucking loaches' natural food source.

I put the name 'sucking loaches' in quotation marks because as far as I know it is a made up name that a lot of fish shops use, often stating it is a dwarf sucking loach when in fact it isn't . anyways I'm no expert on these fish so you'll probs get more accurate and useful info from someone else. lol

they were not even searching for food though, like that they were either ill or sulking!

nah lid fits with no gaps and i also have condensation sheet on there too.

just abit concerned cos i am now at work and cant look for it :/

how big are the CAEs? i bought a 6/7 inch one of these and it hid alot of the time because there wasnt much algae in the tank at the time. it maybe that the only thing making your loaches come out from hiding was the algae and the snails may have lowered the algae levels and made the fish think its not worth coming out until its darker. try checkin when the lights go out :good:
also, not to put a negative thought in but these fish, when they grow, they become aggresive towards each other. if you didnt already know that is.

Very small one is 2 inches tops, other about 1 1/2

I hope that is it, they have gone from being very alert to hiding.

I will have a good look when i get in

well, this is completley opposite of what I experienced..... I bought a Black Mystery snail (I believe, a type of apple snail) and had him for over a year....
I introduced a CAE........ and had an empty shell with in a week..... My poor snail...

I do think it was sulking!!! checked and have been looking alot and it is back out looking for grub!
