I have a small community tank consisting of tetras, minnows, danio's, guppys and mollies. In my LFS their have been some (dwarf cichlid?) golden rams which they say can be part of a community tank, I thought i'd check here 1st though,
are these fish aggressive/ territorial
do they have any special requirements
would one on its own upset the friendliness within my community tank?

thanks in advance blueline-uk

Hi:

I just added a male/female pair of Gold Rams in my 26 US gallon community tank and I have many of the same fish you mentioned. Neon tetras are in fact recommended as good tank companions for cichlids. I absolutely love my pair of rams. They are some of the most elegant and graceful fish I have ever owned. I do know that they like hiding spots like caves and the like. You can find some great info on the New World Cichlid forum. Good luck.

As with all cichlids there predominant carnivors, so plenty of blood worm (and other live foods), along with a special carnivor pellet feed will go down a treat :) aslong as your tank is large enough and theres sufficient hiding spots you should have a great pair of fish in your hands!
