Saw these at the LFS a few days back and they are stunning, would they be able to live in a planted 16UK Gal with a couple of guppies and neons?

i assume u mean golden wonder panchax?

if o then yes they'll be fine with guppies and neons.

they are surface fish so will usually stay at the topm most of the time

yep think there the ones rocknurworld, will do some research and the neons can be moved if needed :good:

Search down the threads, I've wrote some lengthy replies in some of them regarding the above species.

If so, I definitely would not. After having 2 for a little bit, we've found out that they can be aggressive little fish and when they get it in to their heads to harass, they do NOT stop (at least the one pictured above doesn't... god he's a pain in the butt w/ other fish!)
And fish as small as neons, and quite possibly the guppies might become food.

Neon's would make lovely little treats to those particlar killi's, they may be top water swimmers but they can get to be around 3.5 to 4 inches if not bigger and neons are just too small to be left alone.

As already said Aplochelius lineatus "Gold" get very big even in the home aquarium, they are predators by nature and posess a huge cavernous mouth which it can open extremly wide. Small tetras and guppies won't last long with a pair of these around. Problem is they look realy nice in the LFS tanks when they are usually sold at around the 60mm size. Beautiful little fish "Wrong perception entirely" I've had folks on here complaining that their nice shoal of neon/cardinals has been gradually declining over the weeks and months, root source was they also had Lineatus in their tank.
Hope that provides some insight into this wolf in sheeps clothing.

I got one of these at the same time I added some guppies to my tank - next morning the guppies were all dead. I wasn't sure of the culprit until now, though *touch wood* he's been fine with the other tank occupants (most of whom are 3/4 his own size or bigger.)

I had no idea they were like this and i read ur other posts as well, quite intersting, ive always kept them on their own species tanks, so never noticed.
definately something i dont think alot of people wud be aware of

Due to the popularity of this particular species I've taken it upon myself to put something down on paper albeit electronic.
New information regarding the husbandry of this species from my notes is now available in the pinned section at the top of the Killifish forum
