i kow this should really be in the emergencies forum but my computer wont let me ad a comment their. my problem is 2 of my golden barbs are rubbing against the rocks in the tank. i change my water every week, and have tiger barbs, snake skin gourami, siamese fighter, marble hatchets, swordtails and a sucking loach in with the golden barbs. i added fish to my tank a few days ago and my tank is 55 litres capacity. can anyone suggest why the golden barbs are rubbing against the rocks? not sure of the ph or ammonia or nitrates levels because i dont have a kit.

First off, do a water change. Now. Then, try to get a kit or at least have an lfs test it for you. A lot of times things can be fine water parameter-wise but a water change will help. I've had that happen before and never found out the reason for it.
Let us now what happens after the change.
Good luck!

Your tanks overstocked.
Water change.
Take a sample of your water to the lfs and tell them to write the readings down for you.
Added new fish to a tank they could of fetched a parasite into the tank.

possibly whitespot in it's early stages, do some water changes and flick your heater up a few degrees.
Oh and yes your tank is marginally overstocked. What filter are you running?
