Ghost shrimp 2

oh good, i don't really want them to, i am bad at keeping babies :( at one point, i had 29 baby fancy guppies, and they all died mysteriously on the same day :( i even checked the water, nothing was wrong, i even fed them the recromended food amount.

depending on what you're planning on keeping them with they may not live long as adults. What's your planned stocking list if you don't mind my asking.

hmm, tetras, guppies, mollies, that sort of stuff. i am not into those huge big fish.

they may get eaten, but your fish won't mind the snack if they do. I say give it a try. Just make sure to look for dead ones from time to time.

i disagree , ghost shrimp are quite large i keep a few with mollies guppys tetras and ghost catfish aswell as a plec. they have no trouble with each other. As long as when you introduce them together the fish are young and small you shouldd have no problem with eachother. i alos have a few cherry shrimp which are nearly half the size of the ghosts and they dont get bothered. just make sure there is somewhere they can hide, mine sit on some wood or hang upsidedown under it

do they get along with loachs? i only have one, and it's barely the size of a pencil.

what kind of loach is it? ive got some pics in the pictures page of my shrimps tank mates if you wanna look. got a pic of my loach in it

most loaches would love a tasty ghost shrimp snack...even if it is too big to fit into their mouths whole they will kill it and disembowel it

just a little edit: although my metallic plakat is fairly small (about the size of a large female guppy), he managed to eat 3 large ghost shrimp in a day....he was fine with them for over a month and one day i noticed some legs sticking out of his mouth...checked the tank, and all 3 were gone

isnt that fish more aggressive though. most comunity fish that are kept fed well wont eat the shrimp .

no way, that plakat is the most gentle fish i have and is very well fed lol....9 times out of 10 ghost shrimp will fall victim to just about any fish, no matter how aggressive, hungry, or big the fish is....it doesn't take a very large mouth to rip the guts of a shrimp out

well my fish dont eat my shrimp and ive got a few diffrent types. i think there is a lot of miss conception about keeping shrimp

how so exactly? it seems that the misconception is that if the fish are small enough, shrimp will be ok with them, when in fact, even if it doesn't happen right away the shrimp usually end up dead... i have kept a lot of ghost shrimp in a lot of different scenarios (heavily planted is obviously the best case scenario, but even then i find the shrimp to be extremly vulnerable at night and often have too much of a sense of security)....it's my opinion that the shrimp only last as long as it takes the fish to figure out how to catch them....sometimes the fish never can get them, but i guarantee they still try....and when a fish DOES figure out how to catch a shrimp, it is like riding a bike for them - something they never forget haha

the misconception is that shrimp are food and cant live with fish

if that was true then why would fish stores and experts recomend them in comunity tanks. just because your fish have eaten them doesnt mean that all will. comunity fish like mollies and guppies are ideal to go with ghost shrimp maybe a large loach might eat them and your metallic plakat is a predatry fish which mollies and guppies are not.

Shrimp are a great addition to a livebearer tank and would recomend them to anyone wanting something diffrent and fun to watch. Shrimp are not food for other fish and everone capable should try them!!

Good luck for anyone that wants to try shrimp ,the're great
