My ghost knife has always been one to hide (typical of them I know). I moved him from the 55g tank to the 125 g tank about 3 weeks ago. Up until maybe 4-5 days ago he stayed in seclusion. But now he is out and about and swimming everywhere. He doesn't seem to be hiding at all, and he does have a good handful of hiding spaces he can go to. I have 2 big angels, 8 small tiger barbs and 2 fishie shark looking things. I forget what they are called. Non-Aggressive though.

With the ghost knife out and about so much I wonder if he is looking for food or just happy to be alive. I feed the ghost knife blood worms each night. He usually takes the block out of my hand when it is softened up and pieces are falling off when I shake it in the water. Usually he has the block for a good 60 second before another fish finds it and steals it. I have always wondered if he was getting enough to eat though...

Thoughts?

I would say happy! A 55 gallon is a very small tank for a fish that can get 2 feet long.

He isn't hungry, but just increase the feeding to twice a day (fish should love you for it.) Try some other stuff too, like brine shrimp, and mysis!

I have given him brine shrimp (and I have lots of it) but he doesn't seem to want it.

I would ween him onto it. Bloodworms aren't the best food to feed as a staple! They don't have great nutrition, and can cause some different bowl problems. Start feeding him 1/3 brine, and 2/3 red mosquito larvae. Eventually you can increase the amount of brine, and finally feed it without anything mixed in.

i think brine hass less nutrition than bloodworms

Brine shrimp, unless it has enriched, will be less nutritious than the blood worms. Do you feed your fish any catfish/sinking type pellets?
