Hi all

Iv recently got a nnew tank and am setting it up for discus....

Iv just bought a tetratest GH test, but the instructions aren't very clear, it mentions colour changes from red to green and blue to yellow....

However as i add drops to the water sample it just goes greener. and greener AND GREENER!!!

Has anyone used this test? or know how to use it?

cheers

Lee

does it tell you that green = a certain gh value?

cos my interpet one, you add drops to the water, and each drop is 1 gh I think, and when it goes yellow you stop

It says

1, rinse the vial qith aquarium water

2, fill with 5ml aquarium water

3, hold dropper above vial and add drops of the testing fluid.

4, gently shake the vial after each drop, count the number of drops necessary to cause a colour change.

5,the number of drops added until the colour changes represents the level of hardness(german hardness)

6,GH-colour change from red to green
KH-colour change from blue to yellow

i read it as i was counting the number of drops it took to change it from red to green??

Mine takes between 17-19 drops to change colour ! Which means my water is more or less what they call "liquid rock" ;)

Ah interesting!!

what colour changes do you get from having no drops through to your final reading?

Lee

Mine (API test kit) goes from yellow - to intense bright yellow - to bright green.
