Gh And Kh

How do you lower your GH (General Hardness) and KH (Carbonate Hardness) levels in your water for your aquarium? Of course i'm thinking the most inexpensive way possible. I've heard that you can mix my tap water (which is hard water) with distilled or spring water; would that help any?


O also I found this but i'm not positive if it will work; API's Tap Water Filtration system. Would that solve the problem?
