All i currently have is a dinosaur eel ( Again i for got the real name ) I want a few funny fish with fun personalities like my dinosaur eel~!!!

well... youll need a much bigger tank, but oscars, pacu, largemouth bass, striped bass, and most of all... arowanas have great personalities. Start saving for that huge tank dude!

Dude money = no prob for me. Dad = does not like fish. Maybe when i remodel my room ill get an 80 or 90 gallon??

Right now you can add a peacock eel or a fire eel. They are very friendly with great personalitys. In my opinio0n fire eels are much more friendly and active and you can hand feed them. Peacock eels grow to a foot so it can stay in that tank. Fire eels grow to a meter so you would need to rehome him into your future 80 or 90 gallon tank.

Would my Dinosaur eel be friendly with it?

I never rly had either of those fish, but i know a few people who have them together in a tank. Is your bichir large?

I've got peacock eels and there awesome fish, they love being handfed and will come right up too the top for frozen bloodworms. Rainbow sharks and paradise fish also have pretty cool personalities and stay fairly small.

hes like 3 inches right now lol maybe like 2 inches i dont know :p

Do not get rainbow sharks or paradise if there small. Senegal bichers can eat things half there size. You need something big with the same growth rate. Like i said before, you can get a peacock eel or a fire eel. I found out you can also get a Knife fish. I'm not sure which knife fish though. You can buy an eel at about 4 or 5 inches for a couple of dollars. They will do fine.

I think ill go with a knife or two becouse ive heard theyre a little goofy and they are fun to watch

Could you help me find a small breed of them?

When you get your 80 or 90 gallon you can get knife fish and an eel. I would say when you have your 80 or 90 you should get one or two more bichirs, maybe more if you want. Then you can also get a fire eel. Only get one eel because they tend to be agrressive towrd there own species. And you can get the knife fish. Im not sure about two because i think they are canabalistic. I think the clown knifes are canabalistic. The ones with the same growth rate as your bichirs are Black ghost knifes. They look much nicer than the clowns and im not sure if they are canabalistic. So get black ghosts and find out if they are canabalistic. Dont get all these fish into your 40 gallon. When would you be getting your 90 gallon?

Everyone posting is currently assuming that you have a bichir, but I'm not so sure. I'd hold off until you have a better ID on your fish, if that's a dragon goby it will need brackish water, not to mention your tank would be small for it. Can you find a picture of your fish? All of the fish mentioned are much better off in fresh water though a few can stand slightly brackish conditions.

Peacock eels are rather shy, and while your tank would be large enough to keep them I'd be very careful about tank mates, keep them peaceful. Tire track eels are more agressive and do well with cichlids and other agressive fish though they'd need a larger tank of 80-90 gallons at least. Fire eels get much too large for the size of tank you're talking about, I'd avoid them. Knife fish don't come small, and I really wouldn't even try one in a 90 gallon tank, maybe if you started talking 200-300 gallons then you'd be able to keep a knife fish and/or a fire eel.

If you're looking to keep something interesting in your current tank, there are all sorts of colorful cichlids with great personality and they come in all sizes. There are cichlids suitable for tanks as small as 10 gallons up to larger species where a single fish will need at least 75 gallons to himself. Check out the cichlid sections for more information on the different species, also check out the oddball and brackish sections for more interesting fish that will fit in your tank. :good: There's also much more to interesting fish than size, my little loaches have color, personality and get along great in community settings, they're my favorites even having kept spiny eels, puffers and cichlids. Bettas and gouramis can be very personable fish as well, many get along fine in smaller tanks.

I've been pleasantly surprised by the corydoras sterbai that I bought. They seem to like to "surf" in the outflow from the filter. I think they're a joy to watch.
