Hi all i have just got a new tank now am i right in thinking if i transfer over the filter and media out of my original tank and run it in the new tank with the old water from the fry tank aswell as new water would this be ok and would i not need to cycle the tank?

I went ahead and changed the tanks over i used 80% original water, orginal gravel and orginal filter and ive got the new filter floating in the tank so it takes on board some good bacteria

Here is a pic of the new set up, Purchase from aldi store for £40 i got the 54 litre tank filter 50 watt heater lighting unit and background along with tropical fish food i thought it was a absolute steel

Anyone know if this will be ok technically it will be the same as doing a large water change?

What fish species/fry are we dealing with.

Sorry forgot to mention the fry are guppys and platys and all doing really well this morning so i dont think the move has phased them too much.

Should be fine so long as you moved the fish at the same time as the filter, and properly dechlorinated the fresh water. :good:

Hi thought id ask what ya think of this tank for a beginner tank?
im looking at the same one!
:)

Its great wouldnt really say it was a beginner tank just a normal tank really, the heater and filter are superb quality as is the rest of the kit, i have another one on ebay for £30 as i got it at a discounted price from aldi , thought i might of made a bit of profit on it but it only sold for £35 think its the wrong time of year as i seen some others go cheap aswell
