has anyone ever had freshwater clams before. I keep seeing them on ebay and I am SO tempted to buy them because i think they would go perfectly in my oddball tank, but I cant find any information on them anywhere....SO i was hoping maybe at least one person has had them before  ?
I was thinking of getting 5 and putting them in my my 12 gallon eclipse with 2 dwarf puffers, 4 coolie loaches, 5 dwarf frogs, 1 rubbernose pleco, and 3 upsidedown catfish...and snails. I have about 1 1/2" of sand on the bottom, and SO far Ive heard they like sand?
I was also thinking that since they are filter feeders (and since my tank isnt the least bit dirty) maybe i could supplement their diet with baby brine shrimp? I also figured id put them below where the filter spits out so theyd have more current to *filter feed*.
Im mostly concerned with how sensitive they are. My coolies have left the small snails alone so im confident they wouldnt mess with or pick at the clams, but they have the tendency to ram things as they swim around (not like they are being territorial, its more just careless swimming). They plow each other and the frogs all the time. The frogs dont mind, but im worried if the clams get bumped too much they may just stay closed up and eventually die.
arg can anyone help? or at least know of a site? anything  ?

well i have heard of a type of fresh water oyster tho im not shure if we are talking about the same thing probably not as thease ones are endangered and live in the freshwater streems of scotland. they are endangered because people keep killing the poor little things to get perls out of them tho they dont normally have pearls. as they dont get to live long enough because people keep killing them to get the pearls out. well anyways i dont think that was very helpfull of me sory hope someone comes up with some usefull info.

I would be concerned with the Puffers nipping at them whenever the shell opens. Clams and muscles are one of favorite foods for a lot of puffer species.

 I hope you have those snails in there for the dwarf puffers to eat because thats probabaly gonna happen whether you like it or not. T hose lil puffers are like bring on the clam dinner :D
