anyone in the hobby long enough has them... the fish that started out as a group, and if you have them long enough, they end up as a single, or pair...

I originally had a group of 5 Tin Foil Barbs... over the years, that has become a group of 1... the funny thing, is that they were supposed to be kept in a group, but even as a group of 5, they were extremely skittish often times slamming from one end of the tank to the other, creating complete chaos, I question, weather they work themselves up??? because now that there is only one fish left, it has mellowed out significantly maybe in the 3 plus years, it's finally gotten used to tank life... it's not like a cichlid, where it's begging for food, so it hasn't gotten used to me, but it rarely freaks out, by itself, like it did months ago, when there was 2... it seems like being in a group, didn't offer it security, and they seemed to freak each other out... thoughts???

That's all down to tank size. Tin foils are big enough and speedy enough that they need tanks we generally don't have. I knew a guy who bought ten and still had them all the last time I saw him, but he also had a 16 foot long acrylic tank bigger than the spaces a lot of people live in. His fish were swimming in a current from laminar flow pumps worth more than my old car is now.

With three and four foot aquariums, some fish just grow into their doom.
