Found 2 Platy Fry In My Eheim 2224

as the title says really, its the first time i have cleaned out my eheim 2224 since november, i was supprised when i took my filter to the bathroom, emptied the dirty water into my sink, then looked to the bottom of the filter and there were 2 small platy fry, 1 was a red tuxedo and the other a neon blue mickey mouse platy, they are both back into the open 39gal, i think they may get lost, its a little bigger than a 2 litre canister

anyone else found a fish in their filter alive??

Bet they didn't realise they had eyes in all that murk, lol - lucky little chaps to of survived.


Used to get babies in the top of my internal Juwel filter - take 'em out, they'd swim straight back in Internal's gone now - went down the Eheim route too.

I found a guppy fry in my hang-on filter once. I was curious as to how he got in, how he managed to avoid the swirling fan of doom and what he ate. I think I put him back into my tank and he got eaten.

No, but I lost 2 purple crabs, I looked everywhere and figured that they got out and died. So about 3 weeks later I went to change the filter pad on my 30g and when I lifted the lid I almmost died with shock when I found the 2 5 ich crabs in there!!!!!! I will never forget the little guys. And when your fish get stuck in the filter they eat all of the stuff that is on the filter pad.
