I put some Nerite Snails in my tank a while ago to help keep algae at bay. I went to buy some food for the snails and was told to get Algae Wafers? Is this correct? I get them anyway for my Plecs and Corys but I wanted to double check to see if there is anything else I should be feeding them. I seem to have lost a couple

Any advice very gratefully received :good:

Snails really are just scavengers, they will find left over food that has fallen to the bottom un eaten. They will eat algea wafers and other tablet type food for the bottom dwellers. I dont think theres a particular type of food for them.

HTH :good:

You can also feed them little pieces of lettuce and such.

Nerites arnt the fastest of movers (an understatement) so any fish will outcompeat them. I dont bother feeding mine, just move them from tank to tank where algae is preasent. But if you did need to feed them, place an algae wafer on the floor and put the snails on or near it. They should move up to it and start to eat it.
