has anybody used it?, the '05 series, no wonder the 404 sudendly became like $120CDN, i am consiering buying the fluval canister filters, 404 and 405 seems so smilar. If the 404 works just as well, should i get that? what's the difference? 404 is cheaper and stuff :)

There realy isnt a big difference that i can see, if anyone has both, and tried it, please post.

also what do u think is a better combo,for a 55 gallon

fluval canister + fluval 4+

or

fluval canister + topfin (the hob for 60 Gs i think)

or

use all 3

I have a Fluval 304 on a 55 gallon and it works fine. I might add a smaller supplementary filter if the plecos I add begin to outpace the filter but it's not that far yet. IMO, Ehiem is too overrated compared to Fluval and some of the other similar cannister filters out there, not to mention more expensive.

Go with a 404 if you're going to have messy fish and the extra filter for the 60g, otherwise you'll be fine with just the 304 or 404.

quality comes at a price, ehiems are in a different league to Fluvals IMHO.

not saying the Fluval is a bad filter, but i'd pay the extra ;)

lol i am too broke to get a ehiem. i have just enough money to get a fluval.

i have a fluval 4+ and a hob filter right now. I dont think it is enough, which is why i am getting a new filter.
:)

I have a 104 and a 204, my boyfriend has a 305. There is no real difference between them. The X05 range is black, with an instructional DVD and smaller flow rate. Fits the decor of black ash better though :good: I prefer value so went for X04 range :D

I would think a higher flow rate would be better. I'm not sure that's an improvement. Black coloration and an extra DVD though? That's worth the extra $$$. :p
